Coco's Ford Model A Adventure: Up and Over the Mount Nebo Loop.
Updated: Sep 27
Hi everyone, Coco here!
Mom and Dad have been saying that I'm a little too shy sometimes. Apparently, being adorable isn't quite enough when you're supposed to grow up to be a confident little show dog! Mom says I need to get out, meet more people, see new things, and learn that the world really isn't such a scary place.
So, they came up with a plan....

They decided I should tag along on a big adventure with their Model A club!
We loaded up mom and Dad's Model A and headed toward Utah County for a long drive up and over the beautiful Mount Nebo loop, (the tallest mountain in the Wasatch Range). I wasn't quite sure what I had gotten myself into at first.

There were old cars everywhere, lots of people I didn't know, strange noises, new smells, and an awfully big world outside my usual routine.
But guess what?
I LOVED IT !
At first I stayed pretty close to Mom and Dad. But everywhere we stopped nice people came over to say hello. They gave me pets, scratches, cuddles, and told me what a good girl I was. A puppy could definitely get used to that!

And as our little caravan of Model A's climbed higher and higher up the Mount Nebo Loop, something started to change in me, too.
I wasn't feeling nearly as nervous when people came up to meet me anymore. Little by little, I started feeling more confident and comfortable around everyone.
Mom noticed that I seemed to have a special sense for finding the people who needed a little puppy love. I would quietly let them pet me, and soak up all those gentle scratches and cuddles. Before I knew it, I had made a whole bunch of NEW FRIENDS!

Maybe Mount Nebo wasn't the only thing reaching new heights that day....
By the end of the the trip, I had become an honorary member of the model A club. They even told me I could come back anytime!
And the cars!
I had my picture taken with lot's of Model A's.

I got to sit in the back of a Model A pick-up truck, sit in Dad's Rumble seat, and discovered that a package shelf was a pretty terrific place for a little Cavalier. From there, I could look out the back window and watch all those beautiful Model A's winding along the mountain roads behind us.

It was my very own Model A puppy parade!
We drove through some of the prettiest country I've have ever seen. One of our stops was at Devil's Kitchen, with huge red rock formations tucked right into the mountains.

WOW! Mom said it looked like a little piece of Southern Utah hiding high up on the Mount Nebo Loop.
Of course I thought it looked like the perfect place for another puppy picture.
The weather made our adventure even more beautiful. Big dark storm clouds rolled over the mountains throughout the day, and sometimes it looked like we were certainly going to get soaked. But, somehow the storms kept moving right around us. We stayed cool and comfortable and never even felt more than a little rain drop.
Pretty lucky for a bunch of people driving antique cars... and one little Cavalier pup who certainly didn't want her beautiful ears getting rained on!

By the time we headed home, I was one tired puppy. But, I was also happy, proud, and a whole lot braver than the little girl who had climbed into the Model A that morning.
Mom says adventures like this will help me come out of my shell and become more confident, not only in everyday life, but in the show ring too. I'm starting to think she might be right.
I learned that new people can become friends, strange places can turn into wonderful adventures, and sometimes being brave starts with something as simple as letting someone new scratch behind your ears.
Mount Nebo was a pretty big mountain for a little cavalier, but I think I grew a little taller that day.
I can't wait for my next Model A Journey with Mom and Dad.
And who knows?
Maybe next time they'll bring my brother Cord along, too.
I'll have to show him the ropes!!
Love,
Coco
---- Until next time with our little Model A adventurer.....
