Sometimes the sweetest dreams take a little longer to find their wings.

When Jeff and Maura first reached out to us, they had one simple wish: a beautiful

tri-color Cavalier girl to love.

For nearly 3 years, they searched, waited, hoped and experienced one disapointment after another as plans with other breeders fell through. Their dream never faded, but it certainly tested their patience.

As we planned Dolly's final litter, We made them a promise, If Dolly gave us even one tri girl, she would be theirs.

Then, as if she had been meant for them all along, she arrived.

Little Amelia, as I affectionately called her, was the only girl in a litter of three puppies. From the moment she was born, I knew she was destined to make a family's dream come true.

Every week, Jeff and Maura eagerly waited for new photos and updates. Watching their excitement grow with each picture became one of my favorite parts of the journey. It was such a special experience that it inspired something we now do for every family. Each puppy goes home with a photo album filled with memories of their very first weeks of life, allowing their new families to see the love, adventures and miles stones from their first home before beginning life in their forever home.

When our sweet tri baby girl was about 7 weeks old, Her new family came to meet her in person. Like so many discover, pictures simply can't capture how tiny and precious a puppy really is. Seeing her nestled in their hands made all those months of waiting worthwhile.

Doris wasn't coming home as an only dog. Waiting for her was Lenny, a sweet Blenheim boy from another local breeder friend.

We originally planed to leave Lenny in the car, expecting Dolly to be protective of her puppies. Instead, she surprised all of us. She welcomed Lenny as if he had always belonged there.

Before long they were off exploring together, and Dolly was perfectly content letting him around the puppies.

It wasn't until later that I realized they shared a couple dogs in their pedigrees. This could likely explain their instant acceptance of one another.

Having sweet personalities helped as well

Like many older siblings, Lenny wasn't completely sure about his tiny new sister at first. He needed a little time to adjust.

But it didn't take long before curiosity

 turned into friendship.

Today, the two of them are inseparable, and their photos together tell a story that words hardly can...
